"Building Bridges: Towards the Development of an Education Committee Americas"

Education Committee (EC) Americas is in early phases of consideration by both the CAMT and AAOMT. At present time, there are two existing committees, Education Committee Europe, and Education Committee Asia-West Pacific. These committees were formed:

  • as a vehicle for information exchange,
  • to help deal with medical insurance companies, funders of health care, and malpractice
  • to openly exchange learning experiences
  • to help developing regions build their orthopaedic manual therapy programs. For example, EC-AWP may supply teachers/instructors to nations that are in the early phases of orthopaedic manual therapy program development.

The preliminary discussions between IFOMT (executive) and Canada, and IFOMT (executive) and the US was a first step in the development of an EC Americas. As the next step, it was suggested by Ken Olson, president of AAOMPT, that the executives of CAMT and AAOMPT get together to discuss the formation of the EC Americas.
